Sometimes honorable
things will come on ones path. My exhibition in Buren inspired a very nice lady
to ask me to make a quilt in remembrance of her daughter who passed away last August.
Her daughter lived in Italy for a long time and everyone in the family had
Tuscany as their favorite holiday destination. Some elements had to be
incorporated in the quilt: Italy, here favorite flowers (lavender, sunflower
and poppies) and a connection with the song ‘ Somewhere over the rainbow’.
The
favorite flowers element saddled me with a challenging color scheme.
I did some breakdown
printing first. With a lot of colorful fabric as result.
Uiteindelijk is dit het resultaat, een toscaans tweeluik.
Inmiddels hangt het bij de opdrachtgeefster aan de muur.
Finally
this is the result, a Tuscan diptych. It's already at the principals
wall.
