Achter de feiten aanlopen / Overtaken by events

De tentoonstelling in Veldhoven is al lang weer voorbij maar tot nu toe geen tijd gehad mijn bijdrage even te laten zien. Het thema was ‘Old Masters’.  Een lap die ik een tijdje terug geverfd had vond ik net een wolkenlucht. In combinatie met het thema van de tentoonstelling inspireerde met dat tot losgaan los gaan op een plafond met engeltjes. In de collectie van het Rijksmuseum vond ik een ets van Jacob de Wit (de onderste) en op de site van Wikimedia Commons etsen van Wenceslas Hollar. De afbeeldingen vergroot en op stof geschilderd. De engeltjes op de luchtlap geappliqueerd. In Amsterdamse grachtenpanden werden dit soort panelen vaak tussen houten plafond panelen gezet. Vandaar de bruine ‘houten’ rand.

The exhibition in Veldhoven is already a long time ago but until now I haven’t had time to show my contribution on my weblog. The theme was ‘Old Masters”. A while ago I dyed a piece of fabric, which in my opinion looked as a sky with clouds. In combination with the theme of the exhibition it inspired me to go loose on a ceiling with angels. In the collection of the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum I found an etch of Jacob de Wit (the lower one) and on the site Wikimedia Commons an etches of Wenceslas Hollar. I enlarged the pictures and painted them on fabric. After that I appliqued them on the sky fabric. In the old Amsterdam canal houses this kind of panels where used in wooden or sculptured ceiling panels. So I made a brown ‘wooden’ frame around it.

                                       

Expositie / Exhitbion

In Biezenmortel raakte ik aan de klets met Marjan. Wij hadden al gauw in de gaten dat onze roots in dezelfde stad lagen, Amsterdam. Aangezien de gemiddelde Amsterdammer een soort humor heeft waar de rest van Nederland zich niet in kan vinden hadden wij elkaar ogenblikkelijk wel gevonden. Laat Marjan nou ineens tegen een expositieruimte aan lopen. Een keer raden met wie ze die samen gaat vullen. Yes, met mij. We gaan van 9 november tot 28 januari exposeren in Galerie Art&Frame in Bergen op Zoom.

In Biezenmortel I came to talke with Marjan. We soon noticed that our roots where in the same city, Amsterdam. Since the average ‘Amsterdammer’ has got a special sense of humor which the rest of the Netherlands don’t seem to understand, we understood each other in a split second. Marjan was lucky to come across some exhibition space. And guess once with whom she will fill the space. Yes, it’s me. We will exibit from November 9^th till January 28^th in Art&Frame in Bergen op Zoom (The Netherlands).
