Very busy but still doing other things

Bijna vakantie, heerlijk, daar heb ik zin in. Ik realiseerde me ineens dat ik eigenlijk kort na de vakantie een heleboel dingen af moet hebben. Eind augustus de Dierbaar-Speelgoed opdracht van Willy, begin september de eerste opdracht van Around the World in 20 quilts en begin oktober de Mandala opdracht van de Dutch Bag Ladies. Alleen de mandala is al in wording, de rest zat alleen nog maar in mijn hoofd. Tijd om dat er eens allemaal uit te halen dus.

Almost summer holidays, wonderful, I am in the mood already. Suddenly I realised that shortly after the holidays I need to finish a lot of things. At the end of August the Beloved-Toy project Willy gave us, in the beginning of September the first project of Around the World in 20 Quilts and in the beginning of October the Mandala project of the Dutch Bag Ladies. I only started the Mandala, the rest was just in my head. Time to let it all out.

Voor de quilt naar een Dierbaar stuk Speelgoed terug naar wat ik vroeger het allermooist vond, mijn barbies. Als ik de jeugd van tegenwoordig bekijk (tot u spreekt fossiel Sandra), dan is het eerder normaal om 20 barbies te hebben dan 1. Ik had er maar liefst 2 en mijn zus wel 1. Samen dus 3. De drie gebruikte dames heb ik al eerder gebruikt in een opdracht voor de DBL maar beter goed gejat dan slecht bedacht, dus die konden nog wel even dienst doen als Barbie.

For the Toy quilt back to what I liked most in my youth, my barbies. Looking at today's youth (Talking to you is fossil Sandra) it’s most likely to have 20 barbies than 1. I had two and my sister got 1. So that makes 3. I alredy used these three ladies for a Dutch Bag Ladies Project. But better good steeling than bad thinking, so they good be reused as Barbie.

Eerst een lap stof geverfd in lekker vage kleuren.

First dyed a piece of fabric in vague colours.

Daarna iets nieuws uitgeprobeerd. airbrush folie. Dat is een folie met lichte plak aan de achterkant, dun en makkelijk te snijden. Met de stencil brander ga je wel door het plastic maar niet door de papieren drager. Dat werkt op zich al erg lekker. Met de folie de vorm van de dames afgeplakt.

After that I tried something new, airbrush foil. It’s a foil with a bit of glue on the back, thin and easy to cut. With the stencil burner you burn through the top layer but not through the paper backing. It’s went well. With the foil I covered the shape of the ladies.

De dames een lekker roze-oranje-rood huidje gegeven. Ik moet zeggen, ze knapten ervan op. Volgende stap wordt om deze lap finaal aan stukken te knippen en weer anders aan elkaar te zetten. Vervolgens worden er nog kleinere versies van deze charmante dames overheen genaaid, geplakt en geverfd.

I gave the ladies a nice pink-orange-red skin. And I have to say, it did them all the good in the world. Next step is to cut the fabric into pieces and sew them differently all together again. After that I will sew, paint and glue smaller ladies all over it.
