Omdat ik toch lekker aan het breakdown printen zou gaan besloot ik meteen iets aan het thema Stad van onze art quilt groep TeXplosions te gaan doen. Ik vind het een leuk thema. Al bijna meteen toen Jose ons het thema gaf bedacht ik iets te gaan doen met een foto van het Italiaanse stadje Lucca. Ik ben daar een aantal jaar geleden geweest en ik vond het een bijzonder sfeervol stadje. Deels opgeknapt maar deels ook nog zo lekker Zuid Europees chaotisch en ongepolijst.
Je kon daar op een toren klimmen en daar had je dit uitzicht. Heel veel daken.

Because I was planning to do some breakdown printing I decided to start something for the theme City of our art quilt Group TeXplosions. I like the theme very much. When Jose gave us the theme I almost instantly thought that I should use a photo of the Italian city Lucca. I’ve been there a few years ago and reminded it as a city full of character. Part of it was renovated beautiful but another part had a southern European chaotic and unpolished character. One could climb a tower with this view as result, a lot of roofs.

Ik heb de foto gebruikt om een stempel te maken. Expres niet in spiegelbeeld gewerkt want ik wilde het stempel gebruiken als ondergrond voor het breakdown printen.

I used the photo to make a stamp. I didn’t mirror the image because I used it as a relief rather than as a stamp.

Dat resulteerde in dit zeefdrukraam.

Result was this silkscreen.
