Lucca

Mijn ‘stad’ quilt begint op te schieten. Het quilten is bijna gedaan, daarna alleen nog de afwerking. Kan dus nog weken duren voordat hij echt af is want ik heb zo’n hekel aan de rand en de ophanglus. De straten op de plattegrond zijn gebatikt. Binnen de huizenblokken heb ik met behulp van gaas een raster gerubd. In dat raster zijn af en toe kruisjes geborduurd. Die staan voor de mensen die in de stad Lucca wonen. Hierdoor komen de straatjes ook mooi omhoog. De buitenranden van de stadsplattegrond is ook in de andere stroken stof gequilt Pas als we met TeXplosions weer bij elkaar gekomen zijn zet ik de quilt in zijn geheel op het blog. De andere dames mogen hem natuurlijk het eerste zien!

My city quilt is going well. The quilting is almost done, after that only the finishing touch is left. Could last for weeks to finish because I hate the border and the tunnel.
The streets on the map are batiked. Within the block of houses I rubbed the pattern of gaze. In the gaze pattern I embroidered crosses every now and than. These represent the people living in the city of Lucca. The result is that the streets are a bit like a surface in relief. The outsides of the map are quilted in the other strips of fabric. Only after our next TeXplosions meeting I will show the whole quilt. The other ladies sure are the first to see it!
