Inspiratie, wat is dat / Inspiration, what’s that

Pff, soms heb je dat wel eens, geen inspiratie. Nu dus. Ik wil aan van alles beginnen maar echt beginnen, ho maar. Ik heb veel zin in mijn eigen opdracht voor de Dutch Bag Ladies, Storm. Ik weet ook al wel wat ik ga maken, geen idee wat me tegenhoudt om te beginnen. Verder moet ik nog aan de slag met de Haiku opdracht van Emmy, geen idee wat het gaat worden en de Stellar opdracht van Around the World in 20 Quilts roept me ook toe. Die laatste heb ik niet zo’n zin in. Het moet in A4 en dat vind ik toch wel zo’n geweldig gepriegel. Mijn jas vordert wel gestaag, de kraag is bijna klaar. Het wordt ook zoals ik het in gedachten had. Gelukkig maar, want daar kan ik ook zo van balen als mijn handen niet kunnen wat mijn hoofd al uitgedacht had. Om mezelf toch in beweging te krijgen maar wat voor me uit zitten naaien. Dat leverde dit lappie op.

Pff, sometimes it happens, no inspiration at all. That’s now. I want to start a lot of things but really starting, forget it. I fancy my own project for the Dutch Bag Ladies, Storm. I already know what to make, so I don’t know what’s preventing me from starting. Furthermore I have to make a start with the haiku assignment Emmy gave us, I haven’t got the faintest idea what that will become. Also the Stellar project of Around The World in 20 Quilts is shouting at me. But I’m not in the mood for that one yet. It have to be in A4 size and for me that’s such an enormous finicking. My coat is still going strong. The collar is almost finished. It’s becoming as thought of. Thang God for that because I always get sick of it when my hands doesn’t seem to make what my head already thought out. To get myself going I just doodled around on the sewing machine with this result.

Tassie / Bag

Het tasje is klaar. Wel een lollig ding geworden. De wollen stof bleek erg rekbaar, zelfs na kilometers stiksels. Ik heb er aan de binnenkant maar een andere stof tegen aan genaaid. Nu druk bezig met de kraag van mijn jas. Dacht eerst om de patronen van het tasje terug te laten komen maar doe dat toch maar niet. Twee keer zo’n beetje hetzelfde maken trekt me over het algemeen niet zo. Ik denk dat ik dan halverwege de boel in de hoek smijt en dat de jas nooit af komt. En dat zou zonde zijn. Bovendien is het weliswaar dezelfde stof maar in een hele ander kleurcombinatie.

The bag is finished. It looks very funny. The woollen fabric showed to be very stretchy, even after kilometres of stitching. So I sewed another fabric on the inside. Now I am busy with decorating the collar of my coat. At first I thought to repeat the patterns of the bag but no. Making twice almost the same pattern is not my cup of tea. I think I will throw it all in the corner and that the coat will never be finished than. That would be a pity. Nevertheless, it’s the same fabric but in a completely different combination of colours.

Structuren / structures

In de zomer denk ik altijd, ‘oh bleef het maar altijd zomer’. Maar als het herfst wordt vind ik dat toch weer lekker. Beetje waaien, beetje regen en vooral, lekker veel kleuren buiten. Eigenlijk is de afwisseling gewoon leuk. In de herfst maak ik ook altijd veel foto’s van structuren. Of ze er nou meer zijn of dat ik er meer oog voor heb, ik weet het niet. Afgelopen week was ik in Inzell, in het zuiden van Duitsland. De herfst was daar al een stuk verder dan in Nederland. Prachtige rode en gele bomen en blauwe luchten. Echt genieten.

In summer I always think ‘Oh, could it be summer for ever’. But when autumn comes I always like it. A bit of wind and rain and most of all, a lot of colours outside.
Actually the change of seasons is nice. In autumn I always make a lot of pictures of structures. I don’t know whether there are more structures than of that have more eye for it. Last week I was in Inzell in the south of Germany. Autumn was much further there than it is here in Holland. Beautiful red and yellow trees and bright blue skies. I enjoyed it.

Tassie / Bag

Ik ben bezig met het maken van een wollen jas. Maar eigenlijk ben ik nog veel drukker met het maken van alles er omheen. De jas wordt van dubbelzijdige gekookte wol, zwart met bruin. Ik heb ook twee stukjes in andere kleuren mee genomen. Rood/oranje en lichtgroen/donkergroen. Daarvan ben ik een bijpassende tas aan het maken. Verder moet er ook nog een omslagdoek geconstrueerd worden en wil ik de kraag van de jas versieren. Ondertussen ligt de jas al geknipt en al klaar. Als ik me even kwaad maak is die met een uurtje klaar want deze stof hoeft niet afgewerkt te worden. Op de een of andere manier wil het echter niet vlotten met de jas zelf. Ik denk dat straks alles er omheen klaar is en dat het loeikoud wordt maar dat de jas er dan nog lekker geknipt bij ligt.

I am busy making a coat of woollen fabric. But actually I am more busy with all matching things. The coat will be made of double sided wool, black with dark brown. I also bought two other colours. Red/orange and light green/dark green. I will make a matching bag of that.
Furthermore I want to make a stole and I want to embellish the collar of the coat. In the mean time the pattern is already cut. I only have to sit behind the sewing machine for an hour or so because the fabric doesn’t have to be seamed. But one way or the other, the work doesn’t run well. I think all the matching things are done soon, than it will turn cold but than my coat isn’t finished yet.

Dutch Bag Ladies

Gisteren zijn we met de DBL bij elkaar geweest. Het was een gezellige en inspirerende dag. Een aantal van ons zag elkaar voor het eerst maar gelukkig sprak iedereen textiels. Grappig te zien hoe iedereen de mandala uitgewerkt heeft. Sommige hebben een stukje gebruikt, er een stuk bij verzonnen of delen herhaald. Willy was gastvrouw en heeft ons vreselijk verwend. Aan mij de eer de nieuwe opdracht te bedenken. Ik heb gekozen voor het thema Storm. Iedereen heeft een stuk hoedenstof, wat draad en 5 lapjes gekregen. Ben nu al nieuwsgierig wat iedereen daarvan gaat maken. Zelf heb ik al een idee!

Yesterday we came together with the DBL Group. It was a pleasant and inspiring day. Some of us saw each other for the first time but fortunately everyone spoke the textile language. Funny to see the differences in computing the mandala. Some used just a piece, made a new part or repeated parts. Willy was our host and she spoiled us terribly. It was my honour to invent the new assignment. I choose the theme Storm. I gave everyone a piece of hat fabric, some fibres and 5 pieces of dyed fabric. I am curious to see what one will make of that. I already know what to do myself

Klaar / finished

Het werd toch nog een last minute klusje. Morgen komen we met de Dutch Bag Ladies bij elkaar en gaan we elkaar de Mandala opdracht laten zien. Vanmiddag was mijn mandala eindelijk klaar. Uiteindelijk duurde het gedoe met het ijzerdraad iets langer dan gedacht. Een aantal keer opnieuw begonnen omdat de manier van buigen me niet aan stond. Wel tevreden met het eindresultaat.
Gelukkig was ik wel al klaar met het maken van de nieuwe opdracht, daarover morgen meer.

It became a last minute thing after all. Tomorrow the Dutch Bag Ladies will meet to show each other the mandala project. This afternoon I finished the mandala. The bending of the iron wire took more time than expected. Started all over for a couple of times because the result wasn’t good enough.
Fortunately I was already finished with the new assignment. More tomorrow.
